Model 2a, Inputs

Model #2a was built with the same input components as model #1a, but without the fixed latency LMI delivered IPSP (figure 18). The EOCD NMDA synapse onto the granular cell had a reversal potential of 0mV, a t -decay of 40ms, and a maximum conductance of 0.00015nS. In order to maintain temporal symmetry of the granular cell response, the primary afferent NMDA synapse was nearly identical with a reversal potential of 0mV, a t -decay of 40ms, and a maximum conductance of 0.00014nS. Both inputs to the granular cell had a corresponding electrical synaptic input, with a duration of 3ms, and the chemical and electrical components of each input were delivered simultaneously. The amplitude of the EOCD delivered electrical input to the granular cell was 0.023nA, and the amplitude of the primary afferent current injection was 0.012nA. The asymmetry in these amplitudes was set to maximize temporal acuity of the response, since no electrical synapses from the juxtalobar fiber onto the granular cell have yet been identified and therefore there were no available experimentally provided constaints for these relative maximum amplitudes.
